Electrical Principal Job Description
- Act as Engineer-of-Record for projects and/or project components of varying degrees of complexity.
- Evaluate, select, specify, and review shop drawings for electrical systems and products for a project.
- Engage in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
- Utilize technologies in development of three-dimensional models of electrical systems.
- Provide supervision, guidance, training, and mentorship for junior and intermediate engineers and designers.
- Prepare and revise documentation in various phases of design and construction, including plans, single line diagrams, ladder control schematics, equipment layouts, and details.
- Lead project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors.
- Participate in client project requirement meetings, value analysis, and basic cost estimating.
- Develop and manage the electrical discipline scope, budget, staffing, and schedule for projects.
- Lead the preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documents.
- Conduct quality assurance and constructability reviews of project deliverables produced by peers and subordinate engineers.
- Assist in the development of new standards and specifications for the electrical group as well as maintenance and update of existing standards.
- Assist with the development of proposals for projects.
- Conduct and/or oversee reviews required to assess field conditions.
- Conduct and/or oversee construction phase services, respond to RFIs, review shop drawings, and conduct reviews of construction for general conformance with design.
- Requisite knowledge, interpretation, and application of industry standards as well as electrical and building codes.
- Strong understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications, specifically in the municipal water/wastewater industry.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, the National Electrical Code, means and methods, materials, and industry standards, particularly related to the water/wastewater industry.
- Ability to lead one or more teams through all phases of project document production.
- Advanced understanding of electrical engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Licensed Professional Engineer.
- Minimum 15 years of experience.
- Experience mentoring and supervising junior staff.
Skills & Qualifications
- Very strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong presentation, interpersonal, and interview skills.
- Well‑versed understanding of Microsoft Office Suite and Auto Desk products (i.e., AutoCAD) and/or Bentley products (i.e., Microstation).
- Familiarity with Revit is an asset.
- Experience with specialized power system software such as ETAP and/or SKM Power Tools is an asset.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $150000.00 – $450000.00/yr.
