Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!

This role is part of Tera Wave, a satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps anywhere on Earth.

This network will service tens of thousands of enterprise, data center, and government users who require reliable connectivity for critical operations.

Special Mentions"

This position is part of Blue Origin's Tera Wave business unit, a newly announced satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps anywhere on Earth. Tera Wave consists of 5,408 optically interconnected satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) and medium Earth orbit (MEO), providing enterprise-grade connectivity for critical operations.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage the interface control systems for Tera Wave's multi-orbit satellite constellation, ensuring seamless communication between LEO and MEO satellites
  • Create and maintain interface control documents (ICDs) that define the physical, electrical, and logical interfaces between satellite subsystems and ground systems using a Model Based approach
  • Develop and implement command and control protocols for satellite operations, including fault detection, isolation, and recovery systems
  • Perform system-level analysis and simulations to evaluate interface performance under various operating conditions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including avionics, software, power systems, propulsion and thermal engineers to ensure all satellite interfaces meet system requirements
  • Design and validate satellite-to-ground communication interfaces for Tera Wave's enterprise-grade user and gateway terminals
  • Develop test procedures to verify interface functionality and performance during integration and testing phases
  • Troubleshoot interface and control system issues during development, integration, and on-orbit operations
  • Support the development of satellite command systems that remotely control satellites from the ground
  • Participate in design reviews and technical meetings to ensure interface requirements are properly implemented

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field
  • 3+ years of experience in spacecraft systems engineering with focus on interface design and control systems
  • Demonstrated experience developing interface control documents and specifications for satellite systems
  • Proficiency in satellite communications protocols and standards
  • Experience with satellite command and control systems design and implementation
  • Familiarity with systems engineering processes, requirements management, and verification methods
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, C/C++, or MATLAB for simulation and analysis
  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing of spacecraft systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • Experience with high-throughput satellite communications systems
  • Knowledge of Q/V-band RF communications and optical inter-satellite links
  • Experience with multi-orbit satellite constellation design and operations
  • Familiarity with satellite network management systems
  • Experience with CCSDS standards for spacecraft communications
  • Background in developing fault-tolerant control systems for space applications
  • Experience with satellite integration and testing campaigns
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles for satellite communications
