About being our Archeological Field Technician
As an Archeological Field Technician, you will utilize your expertise for fieldwork assignments that could include archaeological survey, site recording, testing, data recovery excavation and construction monitoring; as well as conducting record searches, preparing site record forms, daily reports, and assisting with curation related tasks.
This opening is for full-time work, consisting of approximately 40 hours/week, and may require travel out of town/state and offers potential for future archaeological field/cultural resources assignments. Work hours and future availability vary by project and weather conditions; and night and weekend shifts may be required.
Responsibility Highlights for our Archeological Field Technician
* Perform archaeological field surveys, excavation, construction monitoring, and documentation in accordance with applicable local, states, and federal guidelines, and requirements.
* Communicate effectively with construction crews and field staff.
* Maintain written monitoring logs and provide status updates to project management.
* Ability to identify cultural resources while working on construction sites and communicate resource requirements with construction personnel, including Native American monitors and tribal representatives.
Minimum Qualifications to be our Archeological Field Technician
* Completion of a recognized/accredited archaeological field school, preferably in Washington
* Prior archaeological resources field experience in Washington.
* Ability to work independently in potentially adverse conditions.
* Must have the ability to conduct field work for extended periods of time.
* Physically fit to navigate rugged conditions on foot while carrying supplies
* Must have a valid driver's license with reliable transportation and a good driving record.
* 4x4 driving experience may be required in remote, rugged, and undeveloped terrain in company provided truck. Driving on behalf of Psomas requires having a valid driver's license and a clean driving record within the last 5 years; may be required to submit a Motor Vehicle Record release form for Psomas to confirm driving record.
Preferred Qualifications for our Archeological Field Technician
* Bachelor's degree in archaeology, anthropology, or related field preferred
* Local to Western Washington

* A competitive salary! The genuinely expected range for this position is $27.00 - $35.29/hour depending on experience (Archaeological Field Technician I or II)
