Kimley‑Horn is seeking a senior Infrastructure Practice Leader to help drive long‑term growth across the Pacific Northwest and beyond as it's not limited by geography, with a particular emphasis on expanding our transit, transportation and infrastructure services throughout the Pacific Northwest. This role offers a unique opportunity for a proven leader to shape market strategy, cultivate client relationships, and build high‑performing teams in one of the country’s most dynamic infrastructure markets.
ResponsibilitiesMarket Growth & Client Leadership
- Serve as a senior market leader across infrastructure sectors, including transportation, transit, rail, municipal, and complex public works projects.
- Build and maintain trusted client relationships with agencies and stakeholders across the Pacific Northwest, such as WSDOT, ODOT, Sound Transit, local jurisdictions, port authorities, and regional partners.
- Lead and support pursuit strategies for major infrastructure programs, collaborating with Kimley‑Horn leadership, technical experts, and project teams.
- Drive visibility and credibility for Kimley‑Horn through industry involvement, professional associations, and regional conferences.
- Help shape long‑term growth strategies for the PNW infrastructure practice, aligning with Kimley‑Horn’s strategic plan.
- Serve as Principal‑in‑Charge or Project Director for complex infrastructure projects, providing executive‑level oversight from planning through delivery.
- Provide strategic guidance across multidisciplinary teams, ensuring technical quality, consistency, and strong client outcomes.
- In the Seattle market, support and grow transit‑ and rail‑related work, including coordination with specialists in rail, systems, and corridor design as needed.
- Promote innovation, best practices, and continuous improvement across project delivery.
- Lead, mentor, and grow teams of engineers, planners, and designers across the Pacific Northwest.
- Recruit and develop top infrastructure talent, supporting technical excellence, leadership growth, and long‑term succession planning.
- Foster a collaborative, people‑first culture aligned with Kimley‑Horn’s values of trust, accountability, and professional development.
- Partner with local and regional leaders to align staffing, skills, and workload across the practice.
- Contribute to annual business planning, backlog forecasting, and revenue growth targets for the PNW infrastructure practice.
- Develop scopes, staffing strategies, schedules, and budgets for large, complex projects.
- Support responsible workload management, staffing deployment, and profitability while maintaining Kimley‑Horn’s high client‑service standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field required.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required;
Washington or Oregon preferred (or ability to obtain). - 15+ years of progressive experience in infrastructure delivery, planning, design, or program leadership; 20+ years preferred.
- Demonstrated success managing large, multidisciplinary teams and complex, multi‑million‑dollar public infrastructure projects.
- Transit and rail experience is strongly preferred, particularly for candidates focused on the Seattle market, but is not required for all candidates.
- Established relationships within the Pacific Northwest public‑sector infrastructure market preferred.
- Strong leadership presence with proven ability to influence clients, partners, and internal teams.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for building practices, developing people, and creating long‑term client partnerships.
- $180k - $230k
