AWS is seeking a Structural Engineer to join a Data Center Engineering team. This engineer will be located in any of the three offices listed with intent to support AMER projects as well as some global projects.
As a Structural Engineer you will be responsible for the structural infrastructure strategy and continuous product innovation to support our rapidly expanding global data center footprint. AWS Data Centers are a major component of worldwide cloud infrastructure and are industry-leading examples of critical facilities.
Engineers at Amazon design resilient, cost-effective data center structural systems. We are responsible for achieving world-class uptime for our customers, justifying and communicating technical decisions to senior management, and driving continuous advancements and improvements with our designs. You will have the ability to drive change and define/design the systems our customers rely on. Our Structural Engineers play a hands-on role with mission-critical data center structural designs and implementation.

Keyjob responsibilities
- Create, review and release data center Structural Engineering improvements and designs for next-gen data center design.
- Provide feedback into Basis of Design, prototype design, and template specifications for structural engineering systems.
- Serve as technical advisor for AWS DC design projects including review of foundation and structural systems, evaluating superstructure design options, performing seismic studies, and assessing structural calculation assumptions.
- Create, review and release architectural/civil/structural design RFPs.
- Manage external architectural/civil/structural design consultants.
- Coordinate with internal and external MEP/C/A design engineers.
- Lead initiatives aimed at improving cost, quality, schedule, and consistency.
- Manage multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously.
- Travel for site assessments, internal design meetings, construction review, interface with AHJs and design consultants. Anticipated travel not to exceed 25%.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities
- Bachelors Degree in Structural Engineering or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of commercial, warehouse, industrial and/or data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience
- 2+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission-critical facilities including but not limited to: data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities
- Proficiency in structural design software such as CSI and Bentley Structural package, AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Navisworks, Sketch Up and MS Office Suite
- Experience in seismic design and detailing for structural steel and reinforced concrete structures, regulations, and standards including IBC and ASCE
