This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Moon landers and related products. We aim to build sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.
As a Test Engineer working with a team of specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will support the Core Component Fuel Cell Test team through development, acceptance, and qualification testing of flight hardware for the Lunar Vehicles. This is a hands-on position applying broad multidisciplinary engineering knowledge in fluids, thermal, mechanical, and electrical/electronic domains to positively impact safe human spaceflight. We are looking for someone with technical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to quality.

- TRAVEL:
Expected 25% time traveling during test planning and probable travel of 75% during periods of integration and test at multiple offsite locations - Relocation provided
- Interviews will include a technical assessment
- Apply direct experience to fluids, thermal, and electrical component and subsystem test planning and execution, which could include development, qualification, acceptance, performance, and environmental testing.
- Execute test procedures.
- Proficient with fluids instrumentation and Data Acquisition and Control Systems.
- Proficient in creation of Test Plans, Test Procedures, safety assessments, P&IDs, Wiring diagrams, and Test Reports.
- Design, procure, and install test support equipment; manage vendors and subcontractors during installation.
- Troubleshoot issues that arise during testing.
- Conduct test readiness reviews, pre- and post-test briefings, and post-test reviews.
- Coordinate with test team members and support equipment for testing.
- Identify and enforce safety policies during test planning and operations.
- Reduce, analyze, and archive test data.

Millions of people living and working in space. - Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related technical discipline.
- 2+ years of relevant testing experience including valves, thermal control elements, power control elements, fuel cells, sensors, pneumatic/hydraulic fluids.
- Solid understanding of fluid system fundamentals and thermal hardware such as pressurized systems, actuators, heat exchangers, radiators, etc.
- Experience with power systems or hazardous commodities.
- Experience with space vehicle component or subsystem testing including structural, vibe, acoustic, modal.
- Experience reading P&/layout designs.
- Understand the Test Like You Fly assessment and exception process.
- Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills.
- Experience working collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
- Ability to support shift-work as needed to meet customer demands.
- A strong safety record.
- Demonstrate high standards in test operations and work cooperatively with a team of Integration Engineers, Responsible Engineers, and BLUE customers to ensure requirements are met.
- Experience with aerospace flight hardware.
- Established technical expertise in test stand design, operations, and maintenance.
- Experience with vacuum chambers or vacuum applications.
- Experience with power generation or control systems.
- Experience utilizing space and industry standards such as MIL-STD-810, SMC-S-016, and MIL-STD-1540.
- Experience executing component testing at rate.
- Instrumentation and controls, and data acquisition systems experience, with preference towards National Instruments hardware or Simulink.
- Knowledge of systems engineering practices, fabrication and integration processes, and quality control.
