Mechanical Engineer, Building Services Engineer
WSP is opening a position for a Mechanical Engineer – Buildings in Seattle, WA. The role supports innovative and sustainable building design across commercial, healthcare, institutional, and industrial sectors, contributing to multidisciplinary teams delivering high-quality mechanical systems that meet client objectives.
Your Impact- Perform professional mechanical engineering work supporting building systems design and construction projects
- Collect, compile, and analyze data from site investigations, surveys, blueprints, schematics, and technical reports for project development
- Assist with the design, planning, and integration of mechanical systems including HVAC, air distribution, hydronic, and plumbing systems
- Support load calculations, system sizing, and development of engineering design solutions
- Participate in research, field investigations, and inspections to evaluate existing and proposed mechanical systems and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, specifications, and drawings related to system installation and performance
- Contribute to the application of modeling tools and advanced design techniques to improve building performance and efficiency
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (architects, electrical, civil, and structural engineers) to deliver integrated project solutions
- Assist in reviewing designs to ensure alignment with safety, quality, and functionality standards
- Support construction administration activities, including responding to RFIs and reviewing shop drawings
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- 1–3 years of relevant experience in mechanical design for building systems
- Knowledge of HVAC systems, piping, and mechanical equipment design
- Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (ASHRAE, IBC, etc.)
- Proficiency with engineering tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, and load calculation software
- Strong analytical, technical writing, and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities
- EIT certification or ability to obtain
- Experience supporting healthcare, higher education, commercial, or industrial building projects

CompensationExpected Salary: $84,500 – $116,200 (range may vary based on experience and location).
