Duties
Help
- Responsible for the design of the maintenance plan of channel and navigation projects.
- Performs reconnaissance, planning, budgeting, scheduling, environmental coordination, negotiations, scopes of work for the formulation of plans and specifications.
- Determines the quantity and type of material to be dredged, the preferred and alternate dredge material management and constraints to perform the dredging.
- Prepares and distributes public notices.
- Coordinates with responsible local sponsors and interests to ensure that disposal sites, real estate permits, and other necessary local permit requirements are provided.

- Obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License.
- Must obtain Defensive Driving training within 3 months of being appointed.
- Must obtain Contracting Officer Representative (COR) Type B Certification within 12 months of being appointed.

For the GS-11:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes project-based support in a minimum of 3 core areas: field inspections, environmental coordination, statement of work preparation, work plan development, budgeting, or public communications and briefings. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
OR
Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. [remove LL.M., if unrelated] in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as (but not all inclusive):
Biology, oceanography, engineering, or physical sciences.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18.

For the GS-12:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes project management for navigation-related or marine construction activities. Candidates must have performed work in a minimum of three categories: field inspection, environmental liaison/negotiation, scope of work preparation, work plan development, fiscal budgeting, or public communications. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
