Job Summary
The Electrical Superintendent is responsible for the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of electrical and electronic systems across assigned vessels. This role serves as the primary shore-side technical lead for shipboard electrical matters, supporting maintenance, troubleshooting, drydock planning, projects, compliance, and system reliability across the fleet.
Essential Duties
* Provide technical support to shipboard engineering teams for electrical system operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and reliability.
* Serve as the primary shore-side escalation point for complex electrical, automation, navigation, communication, and related system issues.
* Plan and oversee electrical maintenance, drydock work, repairs, and upgrade projects.
* Ensure compliance with Class, Flag State, SOLAS, USCG, and company SMS requirements.
* Maintain technical records, support audits and investigations, and provide periodic reporting on vessel condition and key risks.
* Support purchasing, budgeting, vendor coordination, and project execution for assigned vessels.
* Conduct vessel visits to assess system condition, support troubleshooting, and identify improvement opportunities.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent maritime technical qualification preferred.
* Chief Electrical Officer certification or equivalent experience strongly preferred.
* Experience supporting electrical systems in passenger vessel or comparable maritime environments.
* Strong knowledge of marine electrical systems, safety practices, planned maintenance systems, and technical documentation.
* Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Additional Requirements
* Ability to travel internationally up to 25%.
* Ability to work onboard vessels, climb ladders, and occasionally work outside normal business hours.
* Strong preference to candidates based in the Seattle area; this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days/week in our Seattle-based office.
* Strong written and verbal English communication skills; basic Spanish proficiency would be an asset.
Physical Demands
* Regular standing, walking, climbing, and movement onboard vessels and in office environments.
* Ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly and occasionally more.
$105,000 - $120,000 a year
Bonus of up to 7.5% annually

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk and hear. The employee will also be required to write and type. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
COMPENSATION STATEMENT
Lindblad Expeditions determines the pay for positions using local, national, and industry-specific survey data. We evaluate external equity and the cost of labor/prevailing wage index in the relative marketplace for jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company. Our posted salary range is based on national data and may be refined for a candidate's region/town/cost of living.
