Overview
Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Environmental Engineer or Geologist to join our Seattle, Washington office. This position is well‑suited for a talented, experienced individual who is interested in being a leader and contributing to innovative and challenging projects involving contaminated site assessment and remediation, including the financial and technical evaluations, permitting, and implementation stages. Our client base includes a diverse mix of industrial, commercial, and governmental clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Task and project management, including planning and implementing investigation and remediation projects, budgeting and budget management, adherence to schedule, quality, client satisfaction, and profitability.
- Evaluate contaminated sites and develop investigation and remediation approaches, including remedial investigations, feasibility studies, removal action work plans, and remediation design plans under state and federal cleanup programs.
- Lead the development of work plans, data evaluation, and cost‑benefit analyses.
- Implement remedial pilot tests and systems, including vendor selection, logistical coordination, permitting, and supervision of field teams.
- Write technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals; oversee and review documents prepared by project teams.
- Support growth of remediation client base by leading proposal development, pursuing repeat business from existing clients, identifying new opportunities, and following through on personal business development goals.
- Foster trust‑based relationships with clients, regulatory personnel, and other project stakeholders.
- Mentor, guide, and motivate early‑career staff assigned in the areas of project performance, including technical tasks listed above, client expectations and career development; work with employees to correct deficiencies.
- At times, this position may also include fieldwork including site visits, multi‑media environmental sampling and characterization, drilling oversight, contractor oversight, and remediation system operations, maintenance, and construction.
- Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in geology, engineering (civil, chemical, or environmental preferred), or environmental science. (required)
- Advanced degree the same. (preferred)
- Professional registration (i.e., P.E. P.G.). (preferred)
- At least 5 years (7+ years preferred) of direct environmental consulting experience in the Pacific Northwest marketplace; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
- Thorough understanding PNW states and federal regulations. (required)
- Experience in effective management of projects, including responsibility for resource allocation, quality, technical oversight, and financial management. (required)
- Assessment/remediation experience with emerging contaminants and innovative technologies. (preferred)
- Experience mentoring and managing professional staff. (required)
- Excellent technical leadership of multi‑disciplinary project teams. (required)
- Ability to succeed in a fast‑paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
- Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
- Field work and overnight travel may be required.
- Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client‑driven drug and background testing may be required.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
- Minimum Salary: $84,710/year / Maximum Salary: $145,940/year (Seattle, WA)
