Job Summary

Senior Field Service Engineer – RUPS Systems. The role specializes in rotary UPS power system distribution builds, mechanical and generator integration, system integration, start‑ups, and preventive maintenance. It requires advanced technical expertise, mechanical aptitude, leadership skills, and hands‑on field experience with electrical controls, rotating equipment such as generators and flywheels, and troubleshooting complex power systems in data centers, hospitals, industrial facilities, and utility‑scale environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead on‑site startup, commissioning, and preventive maintenance of RUPS systems, including generator integration and flywheel validation.
  • Perform load‑bank testing, system synchronization, and comprehensive validation to ensure all components meet performance specifications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical and mechanical issues related to generators, flywheels, switch gear, control systems, fuel systems, and coupling assemblies.
  • Document troubleshooting steps, capture data, and communicate findings internally and externally.
  • Collaborate with 3rd‑party vendors and customers to resolve recurring issues within integrated RUPS systems.
  • Ensure all startup and commissioning documentation, test reports, and customer records are completed accurately and on time.
  • Provide technical support and guidance during new installations and system upgrades.
  • Train junior technicians on startup, commissioning procedures, troubleshooting protocols, preventive maintenance, and safety practices.
  • Maintain compliance with industry and company safety standards and client‑specific protocols.
  • Travel to customer sites to lead commissioning activities, conduct training, and perform factory witness/shop testing as required.
  • Assist with project start‑up, resolve punch‑list items, and liaise with site superintendents or project managers to close out jobs.
  • Coordinate with Field Service Leads to schedule additional resources and cover service needs.
  • Perform additional duties as directed by supervisor.
Power System Integration
  • Lead and support field integration of new RUPS and generator technologies with existing infrastructure to ensure compatibility and optimal performance.
System Optimization
  • Analyze system performance and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, reliability, and scalability of existing power systems on customer sites.
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in power/automation programming languages and ladder logic (IEC, Python, Java, SQL, HTML).
  • Hands‑on experience with rotating equipment, diesel generator systems, mechanical diagnostics, and electrical troubleshooting (relay testing, load‑bank setup, flywheel commissioning).
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and one‑line diagrams.
  • Proficient with diagnostic and testing tools (oscilloscopes, megohmmeters).
  • Experience with industrial power system controls and monitoring technologies.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols (Modbus/TCP, OPC, DNP3, ARP, IoT, DHCP, HTTP, IP) and TCP/IP suite.
  • Familiarity with Loop2k and Modscan utilization.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying technical information to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex power systems remotely or in person.
Basic Qualifications
  • BSEE or MSEE.
  • Minimum 4 years of field experience with RUPS‑UPS, rotary, or generator‑based power systems.
  • Prior experience in commissioning engineering, power systems integration, or generator field service preferred.
  • 4 years as an electrical engineer.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
