Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Project Manager, Field Services – Responsible for preparing necessary equipment, labor, regulatory and technical aspects of projects, and managing projects from start to finish.

This role determines project length and cost and visits customer sites as needed to ensure safety and satisfaction for internal and external customers, while supporting other project managers and junior colleagues.

Travel requirement: 25‑30% overnight travel; company vehicle or mileage reimbursement plus hotel and per diem.

  • Prioritize health and safety by adhering to policies and maintaining safe practices.
  • Assess project needs in terms of equipment and labor to determine project length and costs; maintain responsibility for adherence to time frames and budget.
  • Manage and conduct environmental assessments, investigations, and remediation activities for remediation projects; organize and control project elements.
  • Assess new projects, develop written proposals, and establish pricing.
  • Coordinate with leadership on decontamination of equipment, spill remediation, tank cleaning, water blasting, and demolition activities.
  • Determine project responsibilities, assign personnel, and review bids from contractors.
  • Plan for project initiation by scheduling resources, submitting paperwork, negotiating with regulatory agencies, and preparing compliance documents.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor progress, keep clients updated, negotiate changes, and adjust costs while maintaining client relationships.
  • Manage Emergency Response projects and supervise crew.
  • Supervise personnel involved in field operations; plan work to ensure safe conditions and instruct on proper methods.
  • Provide field service technical support as requested.
  • Participate in hiring, performance evaluation, promotion, and disciplinary decisions.
  • Complete monthly billing approvals, administrative tasks, and credit/collection items related to projects.
  • Maintain ability to travel to customer sites, work in outdoor weather, and be on‑call.
  • May perform field activities such as sample collection.
  • Takes on additional duties as assigned.
Education

• Bachelor’s degree (required); technical field (chemistry, engineering, environmental science) (preferred)
• CHMM certification (preferred)

Experience
  • 3+ years in hazardous waste management or environmental services (remediation, emergency response, etc.) (required) – OR –
  • In lieu of a degree, 7+ years in hazardous waste management or environmental services (remediation, emergency response, etc.) (required)
