Role Overview

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. It involves building sustainable infrastructure for transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. We are looking for a Structural Loads Analyst to use technical expertise and leadership skills to positively impact safe human spaceflight.

Responsibilities
  • Solve static and dynamic structural problems using physics‑based analytical methods (hand calculations, in‑house tools, commercial tools)
  • Measure and interpret acceleration, shock, and vibration data from ground and flight tests
  • Model, simulate, and verify spacecraft launch, in‑space burns, and landing events
  • Develop, refine, validate, and correlate finite element models
  • Develop general loads for spacecraft and related ground systems
  • Support configuration development and trade studies
  • Use Femap, NASTRAN, and Matlab
  • Work on rigid and flexible body dynamics
Minimum Qualifications
  • B.S. in mechanical, aerospace, or civil engineering
  • 5+ years experience in predicting/validating low or high frequency structural dynamics and loads, plus finite element modeling
  • Solid foundation in structural static/dynamic fundamentals
  • Passion for spacecraft structural/environmental loads development and validation
  • Ability to solve static and dynamic structural problems with physics‑based analytical methods
Preferred Qualifications
  • Spacecraft and launch vehicle loads development/validation experience
  • NASTRAN superelement experience and coupled loads analysis (CLA) with launch vehicle
  • Hyperworks, NASTRAN, Matlab proficiency
  • LS‑Dyna proficiency
  • Adams proficiency
  • Wave6 proficiency
  • SEA proficiency
  • High frequency environment prediction skills related to spacecraft and launch vehicles

WA applicants: $ – $
