Amazon Robotics is seeking a detail-driven Custom Buyer III (Technical Buyer) to source and purchase custom, made-to-spec hardware - fabricated metals, sheet metal, CNC, and custom injection-molded parts, rather than off-the-shelf items. In this role, you'll own the administrative side of custom buying and maintain accurate component data in Agile PLM. You'll also serve as the link between hardware engineering, commodity management, and external suppliers.

Your work ensures the parts that build Amazon's automation hardware are delivered on time and to spec.

• Purchase custom, made-to-spec components - fabricated metals, sheet metal, CNC parts, custom injection-molded parts, etc. (not items already made)
• Source mechanical components and coordinate with external hardware suppliers
• Enter and maintain component data in Agile PLM (Oracle used for data entry): revision levels, supplier, buyer, make-vs-buy
• Upload and manage pricing data in Agile
• Prioritize activities and ensure program deliverables are met across internal engineering and external suppliers
• Check in with suppliers on a regular cadence to keep production on track
• Attend program-level meetings to understand current and future program needs
• Maintain a daily touchpoint with the hiring manager

Must Haves
:

• Hands-on experience with Agile PLM for data entry
• Technical sourcing of mechanical components (supply chain background strongly preferred)
• Prior custom/technical buying experience: ordering made-to-spec parts (fabricated metals, sheet metal, CNC, custom injection molding) from specialized suppliers

Nice to Haves
:

• Degree in mechanical engineering or supply chain management (mechanical engineering preferred)
• 2-3+ years as a technical lead in industry
• Working knowledge of mechanical component fabrication
• Ability to drive the business side of projects and support new product deployment
• Strong product and program management skills
• Comfort partnering with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• No custom-buying experience
• Only standard/off-the-shelf buying experience

Amazon Robotics builds the automation systems that power Amazon's fulfillment centers, and this role sits at the center of that effort - connecting hardware engineering, commodity management, and external suppliers.
