Senior Constructability Engineer, Data Center Design Engineering

Amazon Web Services (AWS) Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, supporting data centers and the equipment that keeps the cloud running. We seek a candidate with strong data center technical knowledge and practical construction and commissioning experience to help drive standards in this critical part of our delivery process.

Key job responsibilities:

• Work closely with the Global Constructability team and the global Construction Management teams to ensure consistency of approach.
• Drive practical constructability standards in design documentation.
• Drive commissionability improvements in designs.
• Improve the hand‑off process from design to construction/commissioning.
• Optimize engineering input post‑design completion, ensuring consistent roles, responsibilities, and accountability.
• Collaborate with regional engineering teams to maintain consistency.
• Act as the initial point of escalation for complex constructability issues.
• Participate in a 25% regional travel schedule, including unplanned travel as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

• 6+ years of data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience.
• 6+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission‑critical facilities (e.g., data centers, power generation, oil and gas).
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center equipment and facilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Professional Engineering or Architectural License.
• Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region.
• Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment or mass production.
• Ability to read, interpret, and create construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
