Description

Amazon is looking for a results-oriented individual to join the AWS AMER West Energy Team. In this role, you will support AWS’s infrastructure expansion by leading energy projects with electric utilities and energy companies in the AMER West region. This role will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to grow AWS’s diverse, reliable and low-cost energy supply. The candidate must be able to manage the execution of multiple large scale power infrastructure projects across different geographies in AMER West.

The candidate will manage utility interactions, work with internal and external engineering, real estate and planning teams to deliver the electric infrastructure to serve AWS data centers, including but not limited to managing the utility, EPC vendor and/or Owners Engineer to meet AWS’ needs. The candidate will work as part of an integrated team to implement energy program requirements and deliver tangible reliability and cost saving results.

This role requires some domestic travel (less than 20%).

Key job responsibilities
  • Manage multiple Utilities, EPC and Owner's Engineers to deliver a portfolio of inflight medium voltage and high voltage power infrastructure projects.
  • Manage capital budgets for electrical infrastructure and energy projects.
  • Collaborate with the internal teams and regulated utilities on the implementation and management of energy and projects in a timely and accurate fashion.
  • Identify and develop innovative cost savings projects and initiatives related to energy infrastructure and supply.
  • Work with utility regulators to develop policies and guidelines that enable broader AWS strategies and objectives.

Basic Qualifications
  • 3+ years of technical infrastructure management experience
  • Knowledge of best practices and emerging technologies, related to infrastructure (i.e. network, data center, hardware, software)
  • Experience with varying scenarios of infrastructure builds
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
  • Experience handling multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience with design or construction administration of a variety of electrical distribution systems ranging from low voltage to high voltage
  • Experience leading the design, automation, deployment, and support of large-scale infrastructure
  • Experience in data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance
  • Experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities
  • Experience working directly with public utility commissions and other energy regulators

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
