Amazon Data Services, Inc. offers an opportunity for a Mechanical & Plumbing Designer with experience in BIM to support the design, planning, delivery, and operation of AWS data center infrastructure.
OverviewWe support all AWS data centers and their servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment. You will join a diverse team of engineers, supply chain specialists, and operations managers to deliver high standards of safety, security, and cost‑effective capacity.
You will work in a highly creative and efficient MEP BIM team, creating and maintaining BIM models, construction documents, and leveraging BIM data. Projects include Air Handling Units, Cooling Towers, Chillers, Control Systems, Fire Detection/Suppression systems, and Piping and Plumbing systems.
Key Job Responsibilities- Design Mechanical and Plumbing systems for Data Centers using Revit.
- Develop detailed Revit models of Mechanical & Plumbing building systems.
- Publish construction documentation for Mechanical & Plumbing building systems.
- Update and modify existing models and construction documents.
- Create and maintain standard regional BIM templates.
- Participate in design coordination meetings with other trades for clash detection and resolution.
- Work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical locations.
- Assist the project team with information exchange processes between internal and external customers.
- Provide coordination support for information requests during construction phases.
- Record and report key metrics to management.
- Travel to Data Center sites for engineering evaluations and surveys as required (once or twice a year).
- Maintain a positive, creative, and solution‑oriented attitude.

Basic Qualifications- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- 4+ years’ experience using Revit for producing Mechanical & Plumbing engineering BIM models and construction drawings.
- 5+ years of design/engineering experience of Mechanical & Plumbing building systems for mission critical facilities.
- Practical knowledge of Mechanical & Plumbing codes (IPC or UPC) and safety regulations.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
- Experience with design or construction of data centers.
- Knowledge of Lean principles in design modeling and drawing production.
- Experience developing Revit Family content.
Base salary range: $ - $ USD per year (USD, locations: USA, VA, Herndon; USA, WA, Seattle).
