As an experienced Electrical Designer with a passion for Building Information Modeling (BIM), you will join a highly creative and efficient MEP BIM team. You will design challenging and complex projects with innovative solutions for Amazon-owned Data Center facilities, preparing Electrical BIM models, construction documents, and leveraging BIM data. Your work will influence design documents for one-lines, switch gear, UPS, panel boards, transformers, power, lighting, lighting control systems, grounding, fire alarm systems, short circuit and arc‑flash analysis, cable trays, and cable pathways for Ethernet and fiber systems.
You will produce, maintain, and publish permit Electrical Engineering drawing sets for our fleet of Data Centers.
- Design the electrical systems of Data Centers and use Revit to create and maintain BIM models.
- Work independently and in a team environment, collaborating with internal groups and external suppliers, consultants, manufacturers, vendors, and contractors.
- Perform electrical engineering calculations and studies, including short‑circuit, arc‑flash, voltage‑drop, raceway and conductor sizing, and grounding system conductor sizing.
- Prepare and develop detailed Revit models of electrical building systems.
- Develop and publish construction documentation for electrical building systems designs in a fast‑paced environment to meet scheduled deliverables.
- Update and modify existing models, studies and construction documents as required, coordinating with the engineering group.
- Assist with creating and maintaining standard regional BIM templates.
- Participate in design coordination meetings with other trades for clash detection and resolution.
- Manage concurrent projects in multiple geographical locations.
- Support information exchange processes between internal and external customers during construction phases.
- Record and report key metrics to management.
- Travel to Data Center sites for engineering evaluations and surveys as required (typically once or twice a year).
- Provide creative, out‑of‑the‑box solutions and maintain a positive, hard‑working attitude.
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations, including Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, and OSHA.
- 5+ years of design/engineering experience of electrical building systems for mission‑critical facilities.
- 4+ years of experience using Revit to produce electrical engineering BIM models and construction drawings.
- Ability to conduct lighting illumination calculations.
- Understanding of power distribution represented by single‑line diagrams, plans, and schedules.
- Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or an equivalent field.
- Direct experience related to the design or construction of data centers.
- Experience with developing Revit Family content, Dynamo scripts, and RF Tools.
- Familiarity with the BIMForum LOD Specification, AIA and NBIMS standards, and best practices for BIM collaboration.
- Experience observing construction, familiarity with construction technology, and construction practices.
The base salary range for this position is $ – $ USD annually.
