Seismic Hazard Specialist

GEI continues to grow and is seeking a Seismic Hazard Specialist to join our practice in the West Region. Projects will include those in the water, dam, levee, building, transportation, and environmental sectors.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties

  • Support and grow the practice in West Region by serving new and existing clients and markets while cross-selling GEI's core business areas.
  • Help coordinate business development activities within the practice by identifying key clients / business areas, growth strategy, and capture strategy.
  • Lead proposal efforts, maintain high visibility in the marketplace through regular client contact, participate and encourage active participation in professional organizations, and make presentations at client and industry events.
  • Exemplify commitment to technical excellence balanced with client-expectations and satisfaction, and profitable project management. Serve as a technical leader and mentor.
  • Participate in recruiting efforts and the integration and training of new staff.
  • Contribute to strategic planning at the office, regional, and national level.
  • Provide technical leadership and senior level oversight.
  • Overnight travel is required, approximately 0 to 15%.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in seismic hazard assessments.
  • Minimum of M.S. degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering or related field, Ph.D. preferred.
  • Seller-Doer with industry relationships, national recognition, and an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Diverse technical background including a strong fundamental knowledge of the principles of earthquake engineering and seismic hazard assessments.
  • Publishing track record in seismic hazards, experience as an independent peer reviewer, knowledge of current practices and trends, and known in the industry for technical excellence.
  • Collegial team builder with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to GEI branch offices, and project/client sites as required.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license.
