This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Moon landers and related products to enable sustainable transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

• Develop, lead, and own digital, analog, and mixed-signal circuit avionic designs that interact with avionics systems (including sensors and electromechanical/electrohydraulic actuators).
• Own avionics designs and rugged electronic hardware assemblies across the entire product life cycle—from concept and requirements definition, design, analysis, prototyping, schematic capture, layout, design review, test/verification (power-on, functional/acceptance/qualification testing) and through release to production.
• Support avionics controller architecture trade studies, analyses, performance characterization and specification, device selection, and controller roadmap direction.
• Support controller risk analyses, failure modes effects and criticality analyses (FMECA), design for test/manufacture/cost (DFx), and root-cause analysis of test discrepancies.
• Participate in program-level technology development, mission assurance and safety initiatives, and avionics development process improvements.
• Effectively communicate development status, risks, and challenges to management.

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related disciplines
• Experience with analog, digital or mixed-signal circuit design, including analysis, simulation, test, troubleshooting, and part selection
• Knowledge of signal integrity, power, grounding, and general board layout principles
• Familiar with parts such as microcontrollers, processors, FPGAs, ADCs, DACs, OpAmps, power supplies, memory, and MOSFETs
• Knowledge of common communication methods (RS232, RS422, I2C, SPI, LVDS, Ethernet, CAN, PCIe)
• Knowledge of radiation effects on electronics and how to apply this to designs targeting space applications
• Hands-on work style, independently and in a team, throughout the development and production phases of the electronic assembly product lifecycle
• Ability to earn trust and maintain positive professional relationships in a collaborative culture
• U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
• 10% travel to other Blue Origin locations for meetings or large company events

• Master of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related disciplines
• 5+ years of experience (3+ years with a Masters) in design, development, test, and operation of vehicle Avionics systems
• Experience with launch vehicle Avionics systems hardware development, integration, and test
• Designing high-reliability safety-critical boards; familiarity with IPC-A-600/610, DO-254 and similar standards
• Scripting, Programming and Analysis: TCL, Python, Linux shell, Windows batch scripting; C/C++; MATLAB/Simulink, HSPICE and HFSS or similar tools

Base Pay Range is variable by location: CA: $ - $; CO: $98,208.00 - $; WA: $ - $. Other site ranges may differ.
