Strategic Silicon & Tech Sourcing Principal, Networking Silicon

Overview

Strategic Silicon & Tech Sourcing Principal, Networking Silicon at Amazon Web Services (AWS) Infrastructure Sourcing and Procurement. This role leads strategic sourcing, technology road mapping, industry enabling and project execution for silicon components (including switch ASICs and related networking platforms) to support AWS data centers. You will develop sourcing strategies, own action plans to drive the lowest total cost of ownership, and collaborate with Supply Chain, Engineering, and Business teams to meet growth and reliability goals across global data centers.

• Silicon Sourcing Strategy & Execution:
  Develop and implement comprehensive sourcing strategies for custom and high-complexity silicon components; create and execute strategic sourcing plans aligned with product development timelines and business unit requirements; lead RFIs and sourcing engagements; analyze spending patterns and market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Technical & Supplier Management:
  Serve as technical liaison between procurement and engineering; evaluate supplier core competencies and competitive positioning; influence suppliers  manufacturing processes and technology decisions; maintain risk mitigation plans; champion sustainability initiatives in the silicon supply chain.
• Negotiation & Relationship Management:
  Lead complex negotiations for silicon contracts and development agreements; build and manage strategic relationships with key silicon vendors; align requirements with cross-functional stakeholders; negotiate and implement supplier agreements with legal and technical teams.
• Analysis & Market Intelligence:
  Conduct market analysis of silicon industry trends; forecast future supply and demand; develop lifecycle cost models; maintain expertise in silicon component technology and manufacturing processes.

• Technical Expertise: Strong technical understanding of silicon component technology and semiconductor manufacturing; experience in silicon supply chain management or operations; knowledge of device architecture and production processes.

  Proven analytical and critical thinking capabilities; strong negotiation and stakeholder management; experience in cost modeling and financial analysis; ability to develop and execute strategic sourcing plans.
• Additional Requirements: Experience with cross-functional teams in technical environments; strong project management and communication skills; travel required (approximately 20%); track record of successful supplier relationship management in the semiconductor industry.

• Experience as a founder or executive focused on related segments, or as a practice leader or business unit owner
• Experience selling to Fortune 1000 or Global 2000 organizations
• Experience with enterprise-scale infrastructure or development-based cloud programs/projects
• Experience interpreting data and making business recommendations
• MBA or advanced degree
• Experience in Enterprise Networking, Hyperscale Networking, Cloud Computing/Storage or related IT Infrastructure industries
• Background in semiconductor industry with working knowledge of supply dependencies
• Experience identifying, negotiating, and executing complex legal agreements
• Ability to present complex technology and business objectives concisely
• Ability to push back on decisions not aligned with business objectives and propose alternatives
