We1re recruiting for an experienced Industrial Engineer III to join a growing advanced manufacturing business in the Seattle area.
The company designs and manufactures advanced composite structures for the aerospace and defense sectors and is investing heavily in drones and autonomous systems, defense technology and next-generation composite manufacturing.
This is a senior, hands-on role where youll help translate new product and program requirements into safe, repeatable, efficient and scalable manufacturing systems, supporting programs from early product development and industrialization through launch and stable serial production.
What youll be doing:- Lead industrialization and manufacturing planning for new products and programs
- Support NPI from early product definition through first build, launch, rate validation and serial production
- Drive DFM/DFA activities and review drawings, CAD models and BOMs from a manufacturing perspective
- Develop manufacturing process plans, routings, operation sequences and production documentation
- Define and implement tooling, fixtures, molds, shop aids, gauges, equipment and workstations
- Conduct time studies and develop cycle times, labor standards, staffing models and line-balancing strategies
- Support capacity, capability, facility and material-flow planning
- Lead PFMEA/DFMEA, control plans, manufacturing-readiness reviews and process risk-management activities
- Drive Lean/Kaizen, value-stream improvement and waste-reduction initiatives
- Develop business cases for capital equipment, automation and robotics
- Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Production, Quality and Operations to improve manufacturing performance
- 10+ years0 experience in manufacturing or industrial engineering, ideally within composites or aerospace
- Strong New Product Introduction and industrialization experience
- Knowledge of DFM/DFA, manufacturing process planning, routings and production documentation
- Experience specifying and implementing tooling, fixtures, equipment and manufacturing workstations
- Strong understanding of time studies, cycle times, labor standards, line balancing and capacity planning
- Experience with PFMEA/DFMEA, control plans, process capability, SPC/MSA and manufacturing risk management
- Strong Lean/Kaizen and continuous improvement expertise
- Experience developing capital equipment, automation or robotics business cases
- Strong CAD/PDM capability using tools such as CATIA, Solid Works or Inventor
- Composite manufacturing experience is highly desirable
- Candidates from aerospace and advanced composites environments are particularly attractive, although were interested in speaking with engineers from other high-performance manufacturing sectors where the experience is directly transferable.
