At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight! This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products.
To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. We are a team of collaborators, doers, and problem-solvers who are committed to a culture of safety. This position directly impacts the history of space exploration and requires a commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable space flight.
Join us in lowering the cost of access to space and enabling Blue Origin's vision of millions of people living and working in space to benefit Earth. As a step towards this vision, Blue Origin is building the next generation of lunar landers. As part of a hardworking team of specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will work as an Electrical Integration Engineer within the System Integration and Analysis Team on the lunar lander, focusing on the design, integration, and verification of electrical and avionics subsystems across the spacecraft and its payloads.
You will define electrical interfaces, develop command and data handling architectures, and ensure the electrical system meets mission and safety-critical requirements. You should expect that this foundational part of our vision will require your excellent communication and teamwork.
- Design and develop electrical systems and interfaces for the spacecraft and its payloads
- Develop and implement command and data handling (C&DH) architectures for spacecraft subsystems and payloads
- Define and document electrical interfaces between the spacecraft bus and payloads
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure electrical systems integration with Mechanical, Thermal, Fluid, Propulsion, Avionics, Communications, and Software Systems
- Develop electrical test plans and procedures to verify system performance
- Identify and mitigate technical risks related to electrical systems
- Create and analyze budgets to ensure adequate electrical power, data, and channels for mission operations
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field
- 4+ years of experience in spacecraft electrical systems engineering
- Demonstrated experience with at least one of the following: command & data handling subsystems, avionics, or electrical power subsystems
- Knowledge of spacecraft electrical interfaces and standards
- Familiarity with wire harness design and connectivity solutions for space applications
- Understanding of systems engineering principles and processes
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Systems Engineering
- 7+ years of experience in spacecraft electrical systems design and integration
- Experience with power budget development and analysis
- Experience with payload accommodation and integration for spacecraft
- Knowledge of spacecraft bus architectures and subsystem interactions
- Experience with MIL-STD-1553, Space Wire, CAN, or other spacecraft data bus protocols
- Familiarity with electrical ground support equipment (EGSE) development and operation
- Experience with requirements development and management for electrical systems
- Knowledge of EMI/EMC considerations for spacecraft
