Axiom is seeking a Project Planner / Scheduler to support transportation and infrastructure projects in the Seattle area. The ideal candidate is a mid-level, experienced planning professional with strong CPM scheduling capabilities, excellent communication skills, and experience supporting complex rail and transit projects, with
additional experience in airport, highway, Water/Wastewater Infrastructure or civil infrastructure projects preferred.

This role will support project managers, project controls leads, and client teams by developing, maintaining, analyzing, and reporting project schedules. The successful candidate will be comfortable working with multidisciplinary teams, reviewing contractor schedules, preparing clear schedule narratives, and supporting cost-loaded and resource-loaded schedule development . The role will also require a working understanding of how schedule performance connects to cost control, cost forecasting, earned value analysis, estimate validation, change management, and project budget performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, maintain, and update CPM schedules using Primavera P6 or similar scheduling software.
  • Support baseline schedule development, schedule updates, progress reporting, and forecast analysis.
  • Review contractor schedules for logic, sequencing, constraints, milestones, and contract compliance.
  • Identify critical path activities, schedule risks, delays, and potential mitigation strategies.
  • Support schedule variance analysis, what-if scenarios, recovery planning, and time impact analysis.
  • Assist with cost-loaded and resource-loaded schedules, including schedule performance tracking and alignment with project cost accounts, WBS, CBS, and control budgets.
  • Apply earned value concepts, including PV, EV, AC, SPI, CPI, SV, CV, EAC, and ETC, to support project performance reporting and forecasting.
  • Support schedule-cost integration by correlating progress quantities, labor hours, productivity trends, resource curves, and cash flow projections with schedule performance.
  • Assist with cost control activities, including budget tracking, commitment tracking, change order support, cost variance review, and forecast-at-completion analysis.
  • Support cost estimating efforts by providing schedule input for construction sequencing, durations, labor/resource assumptions, escalation considerations, indirect costs, and time-related cost impacts.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, consultants, contractors, estimators, cost engineers, and client stakeholders.
  • Prepare schedule narratives, dashboards, executive summaries, variance explanations, and client-ready reports.
  • Support project controls activities related to budget tracking, change management, risk, progress reporting, and integrated cost/schedule performance.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Approximately 4–7 years of experience in planning, scheduling, or project controls.
  • Experience supporting transportation, infrastructure, construction, or capital program delivery.
  • Strong knowledge of CPM scheduling principles, including logic, float, milestones, constraints, and critical path analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with Primavera P6; MS Project experience is also beneficial.
  • Working knowledge of earned value management, schedule variance analysis, cost/schedule forecasting, and project performance measurement.
  • Experience with cost-loaded and/or resource-loaded schedules.
  • Familiarity with cost control terminology, including budgets, commitments, actual costs, accruals, cost variance, forecast cost, contingency, and estimate-at-completion.
  • Ability to understand the relationship between schedule progress, resource utilization, productivity, cost performance, and project forecasts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain schedule and cost-related issues clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in rail and transit projects strongly preferred.
  • Experience with airport, highway, roadway, utility, Water/Wastewater Infrastructure or other major civil infrastructure projects.
  • Experience reviewing contractor baseline schedules and monthly updates.
  • Experience supporting time impact analyses, change order evaluations, recovery schedules, and delay-related cost impacts.
  • Exposure to cost estimating, cost control, quantity-based progress measurement, productivity analysis, or cash flow forecasting.
  • Familiarity with Acumen Fuse, Power BI, SharePoint, Power Query, or other reporting and data visualization tools.
  • Professional certifications such as CCP, EVP, PMI-SP, PSP, PMP, CAPM, or EIT/PE are a plus.
