Leidos is seeking a Distribution Engineer to support electrical utility projects within our Information Technology & Software-driven engineering teams. In this role, you will design, model, and analyze overhead and underground power distribution systems using modern digital and analytics tools. Responsibilities include preparing construction drawings, bills of material, and studies for reliability, protection, and capacity, while ensuring compliance with NESC, NEC, and utility standards.

You will collaborate with cross-functional and field teams on grid modernization, automation, and resiliency initiatives, contributing to mission-critical infrastructure for government and commercial clients. Responsibilities

  • Design and model overhead and underground electrical distribution systems for utility clients.
  • Perform load analysis, protection coordination, and reliability studies using industry software.
  • Develop construction drawings, bills of material, and technical documentation.
  • Apply relevant codes and standards (e.g., NESC, NEC, utility standards) to all designs.
  • Collaborate with IT, field, and project teams to integrate digital design and data tools.
  • Support grid modernization, automation, and resiliency initiatives.
  • Review field data, as-built information, and GIS data to validate and refine designs.
  • Ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and quality control across all deliverables.
  • Provide technical support during construction and commissioning activities.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and mentoring of junior staff.
