Bridges and Structures Practice is seeking an Engineer-in-Training:
Bridge Inspection

Are you passionate about ensuring the safety and longevity of our nation's infrastructure? Join our National Bridge Inspection and Preservation Group as a Bridge Inspection Engineer-in-Training and contribute to impactful transportation projects across multiple markets.

In this role, you'll be at the forefront of assessing and improving critical structures. From planning and executing bridge and tunnel inspections to performing structural analyses and developing load ratings, you'll play a vital role in keeping our communities connected and safe.

What You’ll Do
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform condition inspections of existing bridges and tunnels.
  • Generate and edit bridge and tunnel inspection reports.
  • Organize information for use in project documents.
  • Assist with the development of bridge load rating calculations.
  • Assist with bridge rehabilitation and maintenance projects.
  • Perform structural analyses and develop calculations using the AASHTO Manual for Bridge Evaluation and other codes.
  • Assist with the development of engineering drawing details.
  • Assist with bridge preservation projects by creating concept reports.
  • Develop engineering quantity and cost estimates.
  • Assist with the development of project specifications.
  • Review of contractor submittals during construction.
What You Bring
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering or completing degree in Spring 2027.
  • 0 to 2 years of experience in bridge inspection, load rating, or design.
  • Licensed Engineer-in-Training (EIT).
  • Proficiency in Mathcad and Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word).
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in drafting tools like Micro Station, AutoCAD, or Civil 3D.
  • Successful completion of NHI 130055 Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges (or ability to complete within the first year).
  • Knowledge of and experience with bridge inspection and bridge management software, such as AASHTOWare BrM and Asset Intel Inspect

    X.
  • Experience with bridge load rating/analysis software like AASHTOWare BrR, CSiBridge, SAP
    2000, Midas Civil, PG Super/WSDOT Bridge Link, Conspan, or LPile.
