A growing employee-focused environmental consulting firm is seeking a Senior to Principal Environmental Engineer, Scientist, or Geologist with a strong background in environmental remediation, contaminated site investigation, and cleanup implementation.

The ideal candidate will have extensive consulting experience supporting both public- and private-sector clients and will be comfortable balancing technical leadership, project management, field oversight, and client engagement. This position includes a blend of office and field responsibilities, including construction oversight, environmental sampling, regulatory coordination, and client interaction.

This role requires an individual who thrives in a collaborative team environment while also being capable of working independently with limited oversight. Strong organizational skills, self-motivation, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities are essential.

Projects typically involve complex contaminated sites with soil, groundwater, sediment, surface water, and vapor-related environmental concerns. Candidates will have the opportunity to contribute throughout the project lifecycle, including planning, investigation, feasibility evaluations, remedial design, and implementation.

This is a full-time position with a flexible work environment focused on meeting client needs and project deadlines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review technical reports and environmental documents, including Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), remedial investigations, feasibility studies, remedial action plans, design documents, compliance monitoring plans, and closure documentation.
  • Develop or support engineering calculations, cost estimates, design reports, technical specifications, and construction packages.
  • Manage projects and tasks, including scheduling, budgeting, client communication, subcontractor oversight, and team coordination.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee field investigations and environmental monitoring programs involving soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, stormwater, vapor, and other media.
  • Direct field teams, laboratories, and subcontractors while ensuring quality assurance and regulatory compliance.
  • Support business development efforts through proposal preparation, client relationship management, strategic planning, and collaboration with teaming partners.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior staff.
Preferred Qualifications
  • BS or MS in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Professional registration such as PE, PG, LG, or equivalent preferred.
  • 12+ years of experience in environmental consulting, remediation, construction oversight, and/or contaminated site investigation.
  • Strong understanding of state and federal environmental regulations and remediation frameworks.
  • Experience managing complex environmental projects from site characterization through remedial design and implementation.
  • Familiarity with investigation and remediation strategies involving soil, groundwater, sediment, stormwater, surface water, and vapor intrusion.
  • Experience with permitting, agency coordination, stakeholder engagement, source control, redevelopment considerations, and environmental compliance.
  • Strong technical writing, project management, and client communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel periodically for project meetings, field activities, and construction oversight.
  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
  • Comprehensive medical benefits with employer contribution.
  • Annual performance-based bonus opportunities.
  • Generous paid time off, sick leave, paid holidays, and flexible scheduling.
  • Supportive work environment that promotes work-life balance.
  • Potential for long-term leadership growth opportunities.
