Earth Finance is hiring a Director or Sr. Director of Financial Planning and Analysis to support our growing businesses. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the entirety of our finance and accounting functions for our growing startup. You will be responsible for ensuring financial integrity across multiple corporate entities while providing the sophisticated modeling and analysis needed to drive our business growth and long-term business strategy.

While this is a senior level position, this is also a roll-up-your‑sleeves “do‑er” role at a fast paced, growing start‑up.

What you’ll do:

Strategic Financial Planning and Analysis:

  • Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision‑making issues affecting the organization (e.g., evaluation of potential partnerships, inorganic growth, investments, and/or other issues affecting the business).
  • Conduct robust financial analysis to identify growth investment timing, financing models, areas for improvement, cost reduction, and systems enhancement.
  • Manage the complexity of multiple legal entities, ensuring accurate roll‑up of books, intercompany eliminations, and consolidated reporting.
  • Act as a key partner in leading the creation of board decks, investor models, and comprehensive due diligence to drive inorganic growth.
  • Translate complex financial information into clear business insights to aid decision‑making processes.

Financial Management and Oversight:

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes ensuring accuracy and timeliness in financial reporting.
  • Oversee the preparation and publication of all financial documents, including detailed P&L statements, balance sheets, and statements of cash flows.
  • Design and execute a robust budgeting and forecasting process that aligns with the strategic plan and financial goals of the organization.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance with all financial and accounting laws and best practices. Familiarity with the reporting requirements for State and Federal funding a plus.
  • Develop and enforce internal controls to minimize risk and enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results.
  • Manage external banking, lending, audit, tax, insurance and other relevant advisory relationships and strategies.
  • Build AI‑related tools to support FP&A and Treasury‑related processes, reporting, etc. (i.e., pricing model).

Accounting Oversight:

  • Hire, oversee, and manage day‑to‑day accounting operations, ensuring that ledgers accurately reflect incoming and outgoing funds.
  • Oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash flow, expense management and general ledger functions.
  • Ensure accurate accounting of income, revenue, accounts receivable, shareholder distributions, balance sheet reconciliations, financing initiatives, insurance, and payroll expenses.
  • Manage quarterly and yearly tax filing processes in coordination with accounting operations.

Skills you’ll need to be successful in the role:

  • A passion for and familiarity with climate transition and climate financing work and a commitment to continuous learning.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible finance experience. Familiarity with GAAP accounting principles required.
  • Demonstrated experience successfully navigating the financial and accounting needs of a complex, growing organization, with a track record of successfully managing multiple projects and initiatives. Experience working within a start‑up is a plus.
  • Proven experience in financial reporting, financial modeling, cash management, budgeting, tax management, and financial compliance.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to synthesize actions, prioritize tasks and manage competing deadlines.
  • Strong emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to synthesize information and present it in a clear and concise manner.
