The team is deeply collaborative and values analytical minds, proactive problem-solvers, and those passionate about building excellence into every transaction. This role offers immediate impact potential, the opportunity to work on nuanced revenue scenarios, and a possible path toward longer-term engagement or even full-time hire.
Compensation& Structure:
- Contract role, full-time hours (approx. 40 hours/week) with potential for paid overtime depending on structure.
- Initial 3-month contract, with extensions possible based on performance and team fit.
- Fully remote, though ideal candidates may be considered for long-term roles in-office if located near Seattle, Denver, or another company hub.
- Analyze, interpret, and document customer agreements, particularly those with non-standard or complex terms, ensuring proper revenue recognition in line with internal policies and ASC 606.
- Conduct detailed contract reviews and summarize key revenue elements such as multiple-element arrangements, optional periods, and termination clauses.
- Support revenue allocations and prepare necessary journal entries to correctly reflect revenue and associated costs.
- Assist in pushing transactions into the system at the early stages of close, ensuring accuracy before reconciliation phases.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including Sales, Legal, and Finance, to facilitate pre- and post-sales activities impacting revenue recognition.
- Participate in monthly revenue-focused tasks, such as close activities, roll-forwards, and deferred revenue reconciliations.
- Contribute to audit readiness, including SOX compliance and external/internal audit support.
- Recommend process improvements for efficiency, especially as the company scales and adopts new tools.
- Leverage systems such as Rev Stream (or similar) and SQL-based tools to validate data accuracy and streamline analysis.
- High visibility within the revenue accounting cycle – this is not just reconciliations.
- Deep involvement in contract review, offering exposure to nuanced legal and financial terms.
- Hands-on experience with complex revenue arrangements such as contract modifications and termination for convenience clauses.
- Remote flexibility with a strong chance of contract renewal – and potential conversion to a full-time role for candidates located near company hubs.
- A mission-driven and tech-forward environment that values integrity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in revenue accounting, coupled with a solid grasp of GAAP and ASC 606 principles.
- A solid foundation in public accounting or experience within publicly traded tech firms is strongly preferred.
- Direct experience reviewing revenue contracts and applying revenue recognition principles.
- CPA or eligibility preferred.
- Excel mastery is a must; experience with various tools like Salesforce and data analytics platforms is a good thing
