Amazon MGM Studios is seeking a Financial Analyst to join our theatrical finance team, where you will play a pivotal role in optimizing marketing investments that drive box office success for major motion pictures. This role offers a unique opportunity to combine rigorous financial analysis with creative industry dynamics.

You will partner with marketing, distribution, and PR teams to track campaign performance, identify optimization opportunities, and deliver insights that influence multi‑million‑dollar investment decisions. As a member of our theatrical finance team you will gain exposure to the full lifecycle of film releases—from strategic planning through campaign execution and post‑release analysis.

Key job responsibilities
  • Design and maintain sophisticated financial reporting systems and dashboards that provide real‑time visibility into marketing campaign performance across theatrical releases.
  • Analyze marketing budgets and spending patterns, proactively identifying variances and recommending course corrections to optimize campaign ROI.
  • Conduct variance analysis that connects financial performance to business drivers, translating complex data into actionable insights for marketing and distribution partners.
  • Partner with cross‑functional teams to improve forecast accuracy, leveraging historical trends and campaign insights to anticipate spending requirements.
  • Develop trusted advisor relationships with marketing, PR, and distribution teams, serving as their finance point of contact for campaign planning and performance tracking.
  • Support strategic planning and investment decision‑making by conducting ad‑hoc financial analyses that evaluate marketing effectiveness and ROI scenarios.
  • Proactively communicate financial insights to business partners, ensuring stakeholders understand budget status, risks, and opportunities throughout the campaign lifecycle.
  • Execute monthly close activities with precision, preparing accurate accrual journal entries and supporting audit requirements for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Investigate and resolve data discrepancies, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial deliverables through rigorous reconciliation and quality control processes.
  • Drive operational efficiency by documenting and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures, managing system onboarding for new users, and maintaining the department’s deliverables calendar.
  • Identify and implement process improvements using technology and automation to increase team productivity and enhance data quality.

Basic Qualifications

  • 1+ years of building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision‑making.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results.
  • Experience in the entertainment industry.
  • Experience with enterprise systems including SAP, Oracle, and custom applications.
  • Demonstrated experience leveraging AI tools and automation technologies to streamline workflows, analyze data, and enhance productivity.
