The candidate of choice must be comfortable working in a Prison environment as you will be required to work in facility daily.

The Washington State Department of Corrections is seeking a detail oriented and critical thinking individual to join the Washington Corrections Center team as a Fiscal Analyst 1! The goal of this position is to ensure the accurate and timely management of agency resources by performing general fund accounting and reconciling general ledgers while providing excellent customer service to all stakeholders within the facility, by demonstrating respectful and inclusive interactions.

The candidate of choice must be able to adapt quickly to changing daily tasks and deadlines. As an FA1, this position is responsible for a multitude of tasks including local fund and general accounting activities to include daily deposits, journal vouchers, general ledger and purchase card reconciliations.

This position has a wide array of duties which include preparing incarcerated individual gratuities on a schedule established locally and participating in active communication ensuring timely information sharing with customers.

This position requires a high level of customer service and communication, including participating in local team meetings, fostering ethical and professional workplace relationships, building positive relationships with counterparts at other facilities to ensure consistent best practices, and actively sharing timely information with customers, including custody staff, regarding potential security issues.

As a Fiscal Analyst 1, some of your duties will include:
  • Local Fund Accounting
    • Prepare monthly fiscal statements and reports in accordance with GAAP.
    • Accurately and efficiently process deposit and withdrawal activity for locally held accounts.
    • Prepare and process accounting entries.
    • Preparing monthly local fund financial reports, prepare and produce payment for local fund liabilities owed to the Department and other local funds, State of WA, and external entities to include other-State/Federal/County agencies and the courts.
    • Applying policy 200.000 guidelines to payment of outstanding department debt and deductions from incarcerated individual sub-accounts required by statute and prepare release check from incarcerated…
