Amazon is seeking a tax professional to join our Tax Controversy Team with a focus on all aspects of U.S. federal tax controversy, including domestic, international, and transfer pricing issues. The Tax Controversy Team is directly responsible for IRS and other audits in various tax jurisdictions. Candidates should thrive in a dynamic environment, roll up their sleeves and dive deep to deliver accurate results on multiple projects with competing deadlines.
The role requires some domestic and international travel and involves interaction with other Amazon tax team members handling tax issues such as transfer pricing, international tax, mergers and acquisitions, and tax compliance.
- Act as a primary tax point of contact for U.S. federal audits, assisting with global transfer pricing controversies and APA issues, and other global tax controversies.
- Prepare, plan, and coordinate responses to information document requests, due diligence requests from competent authorities, and other similar inquiries from tax authorities.
- Prepare and present presentations on various tax issues to tax authorities.
- Prepare and analyze complex data, including the use of technology tools and AI, and embrace evolving new technologies.
- Coordinate communications with the Amazon Tax Reporting, Transfer Pricing, and local country tax teams as well as other internal tax subject matter experts.
- Lead and prepare for interviews of members in various business teams for diligence and functional interviews with tax authorities.
- Research and document domestic and international tax issues from a controversy perspective.
- Manage relationships with external advisors on tax controversy matters.
- Develop strong working relationships among cross‑functional teams, including Legal, Accounting, HR, and other teams.
- Implement and execute organizational processes to help the Tax Controversy Team meet its goal of continuous process improvements related to the team’s objectives.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications.
- Experience working in a large public‑accounting firm or multi‑national corporate tax department.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant tax experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- 2+ years of maintaining and operating transaction tax calculation software (e.g., Vertex).

The base salary range for this position is 82,700.00 – USD annually.
