Description

Amazon is seeking an experienced Senior Analyst, Indirect State and Local Tax to join its domestic Indirect Tax Compliance ("ITC") team. This position will be responsible for preparing and reviewing indirect tax returns, account reconciliations, notice resolution and use tax determinations, in addition to implementing process efficiencies and improvements while embracing new technologies, such as AI. ITC's compliance projects have a high impact on the tax organization.

Key job responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

* Prepare and review monthly indirect tax filings for Amazon & subsidiaries including, but not limited to, Sales Tax, Use Tax, Gross Receipts Tax, WA Business & Occupation Tax, and Regulatory Fees, as well as business license and tax applications and renewals

* Reconcile transaction tax general ledger accounts and related SOX controls;

* Develop and implement process improvements across all indirect tax reporting functions, including refinements to current processes and work-papers, as well as utilizing technology to improve and enhance workflow;

* Respond to and resolve tax notices;

* Collaborate with other tax, finance and business teams.

* Mentor and develop compliance team members.

The Amazon Tax Department is a fast-paced, team-focused, dynamic environment. The ITC team is dedicated to owning and leading projects that result in the next generation of tax compliance solutions at Amazon.

Basic Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business or related field

* Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level

* Experience working in a large public accounting firm or multi-national corporate tax department

* 3+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience

Preferred Qualifications

* Knowledge of at least one data-focused technology tool, such as Python, SQL, Alteryx, Amazon Quick Sight, or similar

* Knowledge of accounting principles, processes, and entries

* Experience researching indirect tax issues including taxability of products and services

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
