Overview

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Finance Manager to support a strategic portfolio of AWS services. This role works closely with finance leadership and key business partners to drive thoughtful analysis and controllership. You will own the end-to-end P&Ls for several dependent services within the AWS Storage, Streaming and Messaging, working across multiple businesses and finance teams to generate insights into business performance, lead key financial processes and projects, and champion process improvements.

You will manage multiple time-sensitive deliverables across teams, proactively identify and manage risks and opportunities, and collaborate effectively with senior stakeholders. Strong business partnership and communication skills are essential. This role requires a self-starter with a strong financial modeling background, problem-solving skills, a keen attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with ambiguous situations. With regular interaction across various business units at Amazon, strong interpersonal and communication skills are critical to success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own service-level P&L across a portfolio of AWS services, including variance analysis and executive-ready commentary for W /M /Q  and quarterly planning reviews
  • Communicate financial and business results to senior leaders; going beyond the “what happened”, and focusing on the “why" and "what can we do about it?”
  • Collaborate with finance and business leaders — including GMs, PMs, and Engineers — to provide analytical support for strategic decisions and drive alignment across teams
  • Identify and quantify Risks & Opportunities, proactively surfacing trends and anomalies
  • Perform deep dive analyses to develop recommendations that drive profitability, topline, and efficiency, and support pricing decisions and go-to-market initiatives
  • Identify opportunities for process and systems improvements, including automation and coordination with upstream and downstream organizations
  • Ensure a high level of financial controllership, maintaining data integrity
Qualifications Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science), or Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance) experience
  • 5+ years of dissecting financial data and identifying patterns that support business strategy experience
  • 5+ years of leading cross-functional initiatives that drive financial performance and strategy experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
  • 6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience
  • MBA, or CPA
  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
  • Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results
  • Knowledge of SQL/ETL
  • 6+ years of applying KPIs to analyses experience
  • 6+ years of building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making experience
  • 6+ years of creating process improvements with automation and analysis experience
