Role Summary
Overland AI is seeking a highly analytical and detail‑oriented Financial Analyst Intern to join our Business Operations team for a 6–8 week internship, with the possibility of extending to 12 weeks based on performance and business needs. This role offers hands‑on experience supporting financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and business operations within a rapidly growing defense technology company. The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, comfortable working with large datasets, and excited to help build scalable financial processes that support strategic decision‑making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in maintaining and scaling financial and operating models to reflect evolving business needs
- Perform Budget vs. Actual (BvA) analysis across departments and programs, identifying key drivers of variances and opportunities to improve forecasting accuracy
- Extract, cleanse, and consolidate financial and operational data from multiple systems into centralized reporting datasets
- Build and maintain bottom‑up financial models to support business planning and ad‑hoc analysis requests
- Support monthly and quarterly reporting processes by preparing analyses and presentation materials for leadership
- Assist in developing and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) across functions
- Partner with stakeholders across Finance, Engineering, Operations, and Program Management to improve financial visibility and reporting consistency
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives that enhance reporting accuracy, efficiency, and scalability
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field
- Strong academic performance with demonstrated interest in corporate finance, FP&A, accounting, or business operations
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling, complex formulas, and pivot tables
- Understanding of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint with the ability to create clear, professional presentations
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 tools, including SharePoint, Teams, and One Drive
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast‑paced environment
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and contributing to a rapidly growing organization
