Vice Dean for Finance and Administration (Chief Finance and Business Officer)
Reporting to the Dean of Dentistry, the Vice Dean serves as the school’s principal financial and business advisor, overseeing approximately $70+ million operating resources and leading key functions such as finance, HR, IT, compliance, business development, and patient revenue cycle operations.
Key Responsibilities- Strategic Financial and Business Leadership (30%) – develop and implement short‑ and long‑term financial and business strategies, lead multi‑year financial planning, forecasting, scenario modeling, support growth initiatives, negotiate contracts, and represent the school on university and external committees.
- Operational Leadership and Management (40%) – oversee department administrators and the Associate Dean for Facilities Infrastructure and Development; mentor finance, HR, IT, and compliance leaders; implement policies, systems and processes; conduct annual reviews and support professional development.
- Organizational Analysis, Assessment, Troubleshooting, and Reporting (20%) – monitor financial and business performance, develop key performance metrics, maintain budgeting and accounting reports, and provide data‑driven insight to support decision‑making.
- Other Responsibilities (10%) – represent the school in financial negotiations, collaborate with Advancement on fundraising priorities, support capital projects, and perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field.
- 7+ years of progressive financial/business leadership experience, preferably in higher education, academic medicine, dentistry, or healthcare, including multi‑revenue‑stream enterprise management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
- Ability to communicate complex financial information to non‑financial audiences.
- Experience with Workday or other enterprise accounting systems.
Pay Range: $219,996 – $249,996 annual.
