General Job Summary
Responsible for leading and supervising the process of evaluating and approving credit applications, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements. The primary function is to ensure that credit decisions are made in a timely, objective manner and based on solid risk analysis.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Lead the Credit Admissions department in compliance with internal policies and regulations applicable to the area, including conducting quality reviews of the Risk department, individual reviews of credit officers, evaluating the Decision Engine, and monitoring department expenses.
- Evaluate credit exceptions in accordance with the credit authorities granted.
- Analyze application information and applicant credit reports in compliance with the Credit Policy to determine a credit decision within an established timeframe.
- Guide commercial areas on required documentation so transactions can be approved within the established timeframe.
- Prepare and deliver training or presentations related to the credit evaluation process, credit policies, and/or the admissions department.
- Participate in the review/audit process to analyze and develop mitigation plans or tools that ensure effective management of the area and compliance with procedures.
- Prepare presentations and reports to keep management informed about officers’ compliance levels.
- Participate in preparing and presenting performance evaluations for employees under supervision.
- Extensive knowledge of credit report analysis, income tax return analysis, bank statements, income calculation, and debt‑to‑income ratio (DTI) analysis.
- Knowledge of credit policies and admissions procedures, and credit regulatory requirements such as ECOA, Regulation B, FCRA, TILA, etc.
- Strong MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and ability to prepare and manage reports.
- More than 5 years of experience in a similar position.
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college is required, preferably in business administration, management, finance, economics, or related fields.
Technical TrainingKnowledge of the standards, policies, regulations, and procedures applicable to the financial industry related to the risk‑admissions area; extensive knowledge of financial statement analysis.
