Where relationships meet risk, and judgment becomes architecture.
This is not a desk-bound support role. It’s a front-row seat to the credit engine of the organization, where you help shape lending decisions, strengthen client relationships, and turn raw financial data into confident, well-supported credit narratives. As an Assistant Relationship Manager – Underwriter, you’ll be part analyst, part strategist, and part translator between client ambition and credit reality.
What you’ll actually do (beyond the title)You’ll partner closely with Relationship Managers to evaluate new and existing credit opportunities, digging into financial statements, cash flow trends, collateral positions, and borrower behavior. Your work helps determine not just if we lend, but how we lend wisely.
You’ll build and refine underwriting packages that are clear, compelling, and defensible, transforming spreadsheets into stories that credit committees can trust. Expect to analyze mid-market and commercial borrowers, assist in structuring deals, and identify risk signals before they become problems.
You’ll also engage with clients indirectly, helping Relationship Managers prepare for conversations that matter, anticipating questions before they’re asked, and ensuring nothing critical gets lost between underwriting detail and client strategy.
What makes you successful hereYou think like an analyst but communicate like a Relationship Manager. You don’t just spot numbers, you interpret behavior inside those numbers. A declining DSCR isn’t just a ratio to you, it’s a signal worth understanding.
You’re comfortable toggling between precision and pace. Some days demand deep-dive credit memos. Others require quick-turn underwriting support on active deals that are moving fast.
You enjoy collaboration with bankers, credit officers, and clients in orbit. You don’t work in isolation; you work in alignment.
What you’ll bring- Experience in credit analysis, underwriting, or commercial banking support
- Strong financial statement analysis skills (cash flow, leverage, liquidity, repayment capacity)
- Familiarity with credit structuring concepts and risk assessment frameworks
- Ability to write clear, concise credit narratives that support decision-making
- A curious mindset that asks “why” behind the numbers, not just “what”
You’re not just processing deals, you’re helping shape them. Every underwriting file you touch influences real business growth across the Pacific Northwest and beyond. You’ll gain exposure to seasoned bankers, complex credit structures, and decision‑making at the core of commercial lending.
And yes, you’ll be based in Seattle, where finance meets innovation energy and coffee‑fueled ambition tends to show up early and stay late.
- Collaborative banking environment with strong mentorship from Relationship Managers and Credit leadership
- Growth pathway into Relationship Management or Senior Underwriting roles
If you like the idea of turning financial complexity into confident lending decisions while staying close to the action of relationship banking, this role has your fingerprints on it.
