Corrections & Custody Officer 2 – Community Corrections Division – Seattle, WA
DOC WFSE Monthly Salary Range 53: $5,074.00 to $6,832.00

We are recruiting to fill one full-time, non-permanent Corrections and Custody Officer 2 (CO2) position within the Community Corrections Division. This position works for the Western Washington Workcrew Unit located at 1550 4th Ave South, Seattle, WA 98134. This non-permanent appointment is expected to last about nine months.
Responsibilities- Supervise individuals who are performing community restitution (work crew/community service) and be responsible for safety and security, directing and monitoring work, and the direct supervision of participants performing general labor tasks in the community.
- Operate state vehicles safely to transport supervised individuals to and from work sites.
- Monitor activities and movements at the work site through visual observation; maintain worker safety and provide safety rules and orientation.
- Issue and account for equipment, tools, safety gear, and weather gear used by work crew.
- Apply appropriate, constructive, and professional authority by communicating with supervised individuals and staff.
- Use de-escalation skills in stressful or potentially dangerous situations; serve as a positive and motivating role model; collaborate with stakeholders and contractors to achieve project outcomes.
- Conduct inspections and searches of supervised individuals and their property if reasonable suspicion exists.
- Administrative duties to include maintaining and managing documentation.
- Other duties as assigned.
- One year of experience as a Corrections and Custody Officer with the WA State Department of Corrections (DOC) including successful completion of the Correctional Officer training plan, and must possess and maintain a vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Washington.
- OR
- High school diploma or GED; two years of experience in law enforcement, security, corrections/community corrections (probation/parole), or related criminal justice position requiring security functions and/or regular contact with individuals suspected or convicted of crimes; and must possess and maintain a vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Washington.
- Complete a felony disclosure form prior to employment and submit to a criminal background check.
- Complete and pass the psychological screening (Battery Exam and Psychological Interview/Evaluation).
- Submit to drug testing in accordance with Collective Bargaining Agreement and agency policy.
- Complete employee orientation and all mandatory annual training within mandated time frames.
- Familiarize and comply with department policies, procedures, and applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements.
