Job ResponsibilitiesWe are recruiting for a Climate Planning Advisor to join OSE’s Climate Justice team. Seek applicants who have demonstrated success advancing racial equity and climate/environmental justice and experience working across the public and private sectors. Use Climate and Environmental Justice expertise, project management skills, strong interpersonal skills, diplomacy and political savvy to continue the City’s work to address climate change.
Your Top Priorities Will Be- Managing the Climate Action Planning Process, including updating the Climate Action Plan (CAP) by the first quarter of 2027.
- Lead internal and external engagement, facilitating the City’s CAP workgroup, standing up a Director’s forum, and convening regional Climate Justice partners.
- Serve as OSE’s Council Liaison for the first six to eight months, building relationships, strategically advocating and informing staff and Council members about OSE’s work, impact, and mission, and gathering information regarding emerging issues.
- Supporting Climate and Environmental justice work and impacting climate change

- Strategic Climate and Environmental Justice project/program experience using an equity lens
- Managed complex projects/programs/plans, collaborating with and moving the work of internal teams and external partners forward, communicating updates, and tracking and reporting progress
- Listened, communicated clearly using a variety of formats – briefings, presentations, written materials accessible to all audiences
- Facilitated and led groups without formal authority
- Engaged with and worked collaboratively with frontline communities, distilling diverse opinions and perspectives to inform City leadership and planning
- Created and analyzed policy
- Demonstrated professional accountability and attention to detail
- Used data to understand the health impact of City decisions, codes, and rules
- Background in land‑use policy, zoning, or urban planning
- Managing multiple complex projects concurrently and successfully
- Advancing climate change with an equity and environmental justice lens
- Building internal and external relationships and partnerships that inform and accomplish change
- Policy or political analysis, development, and implementation
- Delivering outcomes in a political and fast‑paced environment

This job is classified as a Strategic Advisor 2, General Government. Salary range: $56.57–$84.88, with target range $69.00–$75.00. Position offers flexibility of a hybrid work schedule, determined by agreement between employee and management.
