Salary: $6,043.00 to $8,123.00 per month (WFSE monthly).
Bonus:
Employees assigned to King County receive a 5% premium pay from base salary.

About the RoleThe DOC seeks a full‑time permanent Corrections Specialist 3 (CS3) within the Community Corrections Division. The position works for Graduated Reentry (GRE) located at the Seattle Community Justice Center (1550 4th Ave South, Seattle, WA 98134). The role monitors incarcerated individuals (I/I) transferred to Extraordinary Medical Placement (EMP) per DOC policy 350.270 and I/I approved for GRE Alternative as part of the Graduated Reentry Law ESSB 5121.
The CS3 also works from Monday‑Friday 0800‑1700.

Responsibilities- Monitor incarcerated individuals in the community in accordance with Washington State law, rules, regulations, and agency policy within prescribed time frames.
- Engage with incarcerated individuals to encourage and work toward positive change.
- Enforce GRE/EMP conditions and applicable law.
- Facilitate the requirements of ESSB 5121 Graduated Reentry.
- Lead other Corrections Specialists.
- Perform other duties as assigned and necessary.
Required Qualifications
- Armed staff must be able to carry and properly utilize a department‑issued firearm. Staff who are not legacy armed must be willing and able to possess and use a firearm under state and federal law, maintain qualifications, and complete ongoing training.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Washington state driver's license.
- Meet one of the following cases:
- Four years of experience as a Community Corrections Officer with the Washington State Department of Corrections.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution recognized by CHEA or the U.S. Department of Education AND three years of professional case management experience in adult or juvenile corrections or a closely related field, with at least three of:
- Making field visits
- Writing reports
- Assessing cases and making recommendations
- Referring people to appropriate resources
- Presenting cases in court/hearings
- Equivalent combination of qualifying higher education and/or experience totaling seven years.
- Master’s degree in sociology, social work, psychology, criminology, or a closely related field.
- Community Relationships: Build and maintain relationships with criminal justice partners and community resources.
- Observation: Observe and strategize personal action based on environmental conditions and human behavior.
- Stress Tolerance: Remain calm and rational while handling difficult situations, including crises.
- Professional Standards: Apply relevant law, policy, and practice, maintaining productivity standards and identifying training needs.
- Adaptability: Incorporate new information into existing frameworks and support agency changes.
- Integrity: Earn trust through honesty and professionalism.
- Leadership: Promote mission and goals, demonstrating achievement.
- Problem Solving: Analyze problems, evaluate alternatives, and recommend solutions.
- Communication: Effectively communicate and receive constructive feedback.
- Initiative: Work independently, owning performance.
- Complete a felony disclosure form and criminal background check.
- Pass psychological screening (Battery Exam and Psychological Interview/Evaluation).
- Drug testing required.
- Complete orientation and mandatory training on schedule.
- Become familiar with all department policies and agreements.
- Successfully complete Firearms Academy and Control/Impedance Tactics (CIT) training within prescribed time frames, maintaining eligibility, qualifications, and annual clearance.
- Salary range: $6,043.00 to $8,123.00 per month.
