This recruitment is open to Washington residents and those residing on the /WA and OR/WA borders. Work may be performed remotely or from our office located in Tumwater, WA, based on the employee's preference. This Non-Permanent Appointment is funded through August 31, 2027.

The Workforce Pathways (WFP) Program, housed within the Office of Government & Community Affairs at the Washington State Department of Health, is a CDC-funded initiative that expands access to public health careers while strengthening Washington's public health workforce. Through meaningful project-based assignments, Workforce Pathways Professionals gain hands-on experience supporting public health programs, community partners, and state initiatives.

In this role, you will collaborate with Department of Health staff, host organizations, and community partners to advance public health projects and build practical experience in areas such as project coordination, community engagement, communications, research, policy, and program improvement. The Opportunity

As the Tribal Engagement & Knowledge Management Coordinator, you will develop the tools, resources, and communication processes that strengthen how the Washington State Department of Health partners with Tribes, Tribal communities, and Tribal organizations. Working within the Office of Tribal Public Health and Relations (OTPHR), you will lead projects that improve how organizational information is collected, organized, shared, and used to support meaningful Tribal engagement across the agency.

This role combines project coordination, research, communications, information management, and collaboration. You will build sustainable resources such as organizational profiles, engagement tracking tools, interactive maps, newsletters, and guidance documents that help staff coordinate outreach, strengthen partnerships, and make informed decisions. As part of the Workforce Pathways Program, you'll contribute to work that leaves lasting improvements in how the Department of Health engages with Tribal partners and supports healthier communities across Washington.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Develop and maintain a knowledge management system that organizes Tribal partner information, engagement resources, and organizational data.
• Research, analyze, and maintain information about Tribal governments, Tribal organizations, health clinics, and other partner organizations to support engagement planning and collaboration.
• Develop and maintain SharePoint resources, engagement tracking tools, dashboards, and GIS-enabled maps that improve information sharing and support strategic outreach.
• Create and manage a monthly external newsletter by coordinating content, writing and editing communications, and establishing sustainable publication processes.
• Develop guidance documents, standard operating procedures, and a culturally appropriate photo library that supports consistent communications and long-term knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with Tribal partners, program staff, GIS specialists, IT staff, and other stakeholders to ensure information is accurate, accessible, and useful.
• Produce reports, maps, and visual summaries that support engagement planning, organizational coordination, and informed decision making.
• Document project outcomes, present progress updates, and contribute recommendations that support continuous improvement within the Workforce Pathways Program.
