• Work with general methods and procedures, exercise independent judgment to select proper course of action.
• Review work of subordinate technicians to ensure conformance with established guidelines, methods, procedures, and policies.
• Maintain records, prepare reports, and correspondence.
• Knowledge of laboratory terminology and equipment as necessary.
• Analyze blood, sputum, milk, water, urine, food products, contaminants, soil, and industrial and municipal waste.
• Maintain confidentiality related to patients, families, client facilities, and staff in accordance with HIPAA.
• Provide patient care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that considers cultural diversity and age appropriateness to preserve autonomy, rights, and dignity.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Completion of a medical assistant course or comparable training.
• National medical assistant certification may be required for some clients.
• One year of experience preferred.
• Current health provider CPR from the American Heart Association at the BLS level.
• Medical assistant certification (MA-C) required.

Work sites vary. Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other potentially infectious materials. Physical demands include reading medical equipment and documents. Pushing carts and medical equipment may be a component of the job.
