Providence Senior Patient Services Specialist - Head and Neck Surgery
Job DescriptionThe Senior Patient Services Specialist provides support and clinic coordination of multiple patient care services as well as patient orientation for Swedish exercising independence in the planning and accomplishment of a wide spectrum of clerical duties.
Responsibilities include:
scheduling of new patients, follow-up clinic appointments, subsequent treatments, and requested diagnostic tests, acquiring of insurance verifications, referrals and authorizations, preparing and maintaining the patient's medical record, reconciling billing issues, answering multiple phone lines and triaging phone calls. Excellent communication and problem solving skills around patient care and clinic matters are vital.
As a member of the physician practice team, this position acts as a professional liaison with patients, families, other departments, and third party payers. This position also acts as an informational resource regarding oncology support services available s individual performs responsibilities in a timely and accurate manner. This individual will partner in the orientation and training of new staff. These responsibilities are often carried out simultaneously with frequent interruption.
In addition, this job may include other special project assignments as directed. All duties accomplished with an exceptional customer service approach (AIDET Level II) to optimize the patient's experience.
- Coursework/Training and Successful completion of Oncology administrative training within six months
- Medical Terminology Certification or successful completion of a Medical Terminology course within 6 months (180 days) of hire
- 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting preferred (i.e. physicians office, scheduler, etc.)
- Experienced in obtaining insurance verifications, referrals and authorizations
- Associate's Degree in Emphasis in Health Care or equivalent education/experience --or--
- Associate Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school with emphasis in Health Care
