Dr. James Alvarez’s laboratory at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is seeking a highly motivated Research Technician II
. Our laboratory seeks to understand the genetic and cellular underpinnings of tumor progression, with a focus on tumor dormancy and therapy resistance. To achieve this goal, we use genomic, cell biologic, biochemical, and genetic tools to study genetically engineered mouse models and human cancer cells.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, enthusiastic, and have excellent organizational skills.

The applicant will have an opportunity to make meaningful contributions to research projects in our lab. The ideal candidate will be able to independently drive a research project with guidance from the PI and work collaboratively as part of a team. We anticipate that these contributions will result in the technician being an author on multiple high-impact publications.

• Assisting with placing orders and keeping the lab organized
• Independently executing a research project with guidance from the PI
• Performing cell culture
• Conducting biochemical and molecular biology assays, including RT-PCR, Western blotting, and immunofluorescence
• Working collaboratively with postdocs and graduate students to further research projects

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in related scientific field or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 2 years of experience working in a lab outside of school coursework

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Desire to work in a fast-paced environment both independently and as part of a team
• Cell culture experience
• Experience performing western blotting and RT-PCR
• Expertise in immunofluorescence and immunohistochemistry

The hourly pay range for this position is from $27.01 to $38.45 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications. This position is not eligible for H-1B sponsorship at this time.
