Summary
Public Health – Seattle & King County's HIV/STI/HCV Program is hiring a Field Coordinator (Project/Program Manager I) to assist with project coordination and data collection for the Seattle site of the National HIV Behavioral Surveillance System (NHBS).
Temporary (Term‑Limited Temporary – TLT) position anticipated to last until December 31, 2026. Funding may change. Also available as a Special Duty assignment for eligible County employees.
Position SummaryThe NHBS Field Coordinator will support the NHBS‑MSM survey in 2026, coordinating assessments, managing field staff, administering surveys and HIV testing, and ensuring data quality and compliance with protocols.
Responsibilities- Assist with qualitative interviews, focus groups, and community observations.
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners and target populations.
- Lead and support field site activities, including managing interviewers and testing staff.
- Coordinate field staff, manage crowd control, and ensure protocol compliance.
- Screen participants, obtain informed consent, conduct surveys, collect finger‑stick specimens, and provide HIV harm‑reduction counseling.
- Maintain accurate study records and manage interview/testing supplies.
- Participate in ongoing assessment to refine outreach methods.
- Attend NHBS training sessions (e.g., April 28‑30, 2026) and required public health trainings.
- Other duties as assigned by the Assessments Coordinator.
- Experience working with diverse populations including people of color, the unstably housed, immigrants, transgender persons, people who inject drugs, and people living with HIV.
- Basic knowledge of one‑on‑one and focus group interview techniques.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport quickly.
- Ability to strictly follow detailed survey research protocols and confidentiality requirements.
- Basic knowledge of HIV, STIs, and HCV.
- Strong oral, written, and digital communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and coordination.
- Willingness to learn project‑specific computer applications.
- Certified to perform finger‑stick/phlebotomy or willing to attend training.
- Experience conducting standardized surveys and gathering quantitative/qualitative data.
- Experience with NHBS populations (MSM, HET, PWID, WTE).
- Experience in HIV counseling and testing, including STI and HCV.
- Knowledge of medical and social services for NHBS populations.
- Proficiency in Spanish (speaking, reading, writing).
- Valid Washington State driver’s license or ability to obtain one before start date.
0.8 FTE. Working days may include any day of the week; hours range from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, and may extend to 2:00 AM. 32‑40 hours per week, 4‑5 days per week. Overtime eligible; prior supervisor approval required.
Work LocationChinook Building, 401 5th Avenue, Seattle, WA 98104. Daily travel to mobile sites throughout King County.
