Job Title: Laboratory Liquid Handling Automation Specialist

Location: Seattle, WA-100% Onsite

Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, Normal Business Hours

Duration: 39 Months-Contract

Pay Rate: $56.45 – $71.69/hour (W2)

Position Summary

We are seeking a hands‑on Automation Specialist to support the development, qualification, and implementation of automated Quality Control (QC) methods for cell therapy assays. This role focuses on designing, programming, and optimizing automation workflows for platforms such as Hamilton and Tecan
, ensuring smooth technical transfer and compliance within a GMP-regulated environment
. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with QC, analytical development, and automation teams to enhance operational efficiency and drive continuous improvement in automated QC systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and qualify automated methods for cell therapy QC assays including flow cytometry, cell-based, molecular-based assays, and cell viability testing.
  • Program, configure, and troubleshoot scripts for liquid handling platforms (e.g.,
    Hamilton, Tecan
    ) and lab orchestration software such as Cellario
    .
  • Validate that automated methods translated from manual processes are robust, reliable, and fit for purpose through structured development studies.
  • Author development reports, work instructions, and technical documentation in compliance with GMP standards
    , and support validation activities.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts and drive continuous improvement for automated workflows, hardware, and software.
  • Deliver training and documentation to support knowledge transfer and operational readiness.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, or related field with 5+ years of experience in analytical, bioanalytical, or automation assay development;
    Master’s with 3–5 years
    ; or Ph.D. with 1–3 years of relevant experience.
  • 3–5 years of hands‑on automation experience with biologics or cell therapy assays.
  • Proven expertise in developing and programming automation scripts for liquid handlers (
    Hamilton, Tecan, or similar
    ).
  • Experience with integrated automation systems and orchestration tools (e.g.,
    Cellario, High Res Bio Solutions
    ).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex workflows.
  • Working knowledge of biopharmaceutical QC regulations and experience supporting audits/inspections.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.
  • Adaptable with a strong willingness to learn new technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python or Visual Basic for automation workflows.
  • Background in aseptic techniques and bioprocess sample handling.
  • Experience in analytical method development for cell therapy or biologics
    .
Compensation

The hourly pay range for this role is $56.45 – $71.69/hr (W2). Final compensation and benefits will be determined by the employer of record based on experience, skill set, and job location. Compensation details are subject to change.
