Overview

This role is located on the Swedish Ballard campus. Identifies and coordinates all aspects of financial obligations for private pay patients, including patient relations, physician liaison regarding financial liabilities, deposit estimates and collection. Ensures that customer needs and/or complaints related to financial services are responded to and documented in a timely and professional manner to support organizational goals, system improvements and recovery strategies throughout the organization.

Makes financial arrangements and secures payment for services rendered. Helps patients with payment plans and options to protect reimbursement for services. Interviews patients and/or families to determine funding sources and applies financial and collection policies. Assures that customer needs and/or complaints related to hospital care or financial services are addressed in a timely and professional manner to support organizational goals and recovery strategies.

Responsibilities
  • Identify and coordinate all aspects of financial obligations for private pay patients.
  • Manage patient relations and liaison with physicians regarding financial liabilities.
  • Provide deposit estimates and manage collections according to policy.
  • Respond to and document customer needs and/or complaints related to financial services in a timely and professional manner.
  • Make financial arrangements and secure payment for services rendered.
  • Assist patients with payment plans and options to protect reimbursement for services.
  • Interview patients and/or families to determine funding sources and apply applicable financial and collection policies.
  • Ensure responses also support organizational goals, system improvements, and recovery strategies.
Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree or equivalent experience. Additional experience may be substituted for no degree.
  • 3 years of experience in patient financial services or medical billing in a hospital business office, or 5 years of experience without a degree.

Posted are the minimum and maximum wage rates for this position. The successful candidate s placement will be based on relevant experience and other factors. The base pay range may be supplemented by shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
