Role OverviewThe SUDP(T) Clinician will function as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing recovery‑oriented, person‑centered care at Recovery Place Seattle/Kent Inpatient Services. The Clinician will deliver SUD treatment services to inpatient residents, utilizing a harm‑reduction approach and evidence‑based practices in accordance with ASAM criteria and Valley Cities’ policies and practices. They will provide SUD assessments, individual and group treatment, education groups, crisis services and relapse prevention along with treatment and case management services to patients who have a substance abuse disorder diagnosis.
The SUDP(T) will ensure a strong recovery environment, person‑centered wellness, and integrated care to meet the person’s individual needs while assuring that appropriate treatment services are provided. The SUDP(T) will work with program managers to assure quality clinical services and contract performance through direct clinical work.
- Work with managers to implement evidence‑based SUD practices, including patient centered care, harm reduction and abstinence base practices.
- Conduct assessments, referrals, urinalysis, groups, and individual treatment.
- Facilitate treatment groups, relapse prevention groups, and harm reduction groups in accordance with WACs and RCWs.
- Be comfortable working with individuals who suffer from a Substance Use Disorder and Mental illness by providing education and empowering clients to meet SUD treatment goals.
- Work with multi‑disciplinary care team members including mental health and medical providers, as part of a comprehensive therapeutic environment, to assess and address patient issues throughout the workday.
- Collaborate with clinical and residential staff to identify and support residents’ goals.
- Provide feedback to clinical staff regarding residents’ policy adherence and progress toward goals.
- Mediate and/or de‑escalate resident conflict as needed.
- Assist residents in safety planning.
- If employed at Inpatient program, must assist as needed with de‑escalation and restraint of clients in the event of assaultive behavior and pass assault crisis/crisis prevention training and maintain current certification (CPI).
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Education
- Current certification by the State of Washington Department of Health as a Substance Abuse Disorder Professional or Trainee.
- On‑Call employees are required to give 3 days of availability and work per month; this availability must include one weekend day.
- On‑call employees are required to give availability for one major holiday and one minor holiday per calendar year.
- Understanding of and familiarity with addiction, withdrawal, and treatment resources for recovery.
- Pass required background checks.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Willing to work evenings.
- If recovery from alcohol/substance use disorder, the person must have been clean and sober for at least two years and be working on a personal recovery program that is verifiable and documented at the time of hire.
