The Cell Therapy Thematic Research Center is one of BMS's differentiated research platforms delivering innovative therapies to patients. Our mission is to drive leadership in the use of cellular therapies to harness the power of the immune system in treating hematologic malignancies, solid cancers, and autoimmune disease. Position Summary

The individual hired for this role will contribute to the development and implementation of a broad range of tumor models to support the preclinical development of novel immunotherapies. The role will provide opportunities for the candidate to actively participate in the team's study planning and in scientific discussions related to in vivo pharmacology projects. There will also be opportunities to train in more advanced in vivo procedures and immunological assays.

Position

Responsibilities

As an Associate Scientist within the In Vivo Pharmacology team, the candidate will:

  • Support in vivo efficacy and PK studies for preclinical evaluation of cell therapies in mouse tumor models.

  • Perform core in vivo procedures, including tumor inoculation, animal health checks, tumor and body weight measurements, drug dosing, sample collection, and data entry.

  • Assist with moderate amount of mammalian cell culture using sterile technique

  • Apply scientific and technical skills to execute assigned work, analyze experimental data, and communicate results within the work group

  • Execute simple experimental plans with appropriate controls and contribute to experiment design within the work group

  • Work with minimal supervision on routine activities and with moderate supervision on non-routine activities

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 2+ years of academic / industry experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience in animal care and husbandry, including proficiency in monitoring and caring for mouse models of disease (e.g., cancer or autoimmune models). Experience handling both immune-competent and immune-deficient murine tumor models is highly preferred.

  • The successful candidate will be experienced with mouse dosing techniques, including oral gavage, intraperitoneal injection, and subcutaneous injection.

  • Experience with mouse blood collection techniques (e.g., saphenous, jugular, retro-orbital, and submental)

  • Experience with mouse tissue collection and processing for ex vivo assays

  • Experience with flow cytometry and immunoassays (e.g., Luminex, MSD, ELISA)

  • Experience with small-molecule drug formulation

  • Experience with in vivo imaging systems (IVIS)

  • Excellent record-keeping skills, including experience with data entry and data management; proficiency with Benchling and Study Log software are highly preferred

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point

  • Experience with Flow Jo and analysis tools like Graph Pad Prism

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment

Compensation Overview

Seattle - WA: $93,250 - $112,991

The starting compensation range(s) for this role are listed above for a full-time employee (FTE) basis. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills, where the job is performed, the employee's work schedule, job-related knowledge, and experience. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
